To Whom it May Concern:
Please let this letter serve as my official resignation from my position as Mother for the Graham Family, effective immediately.
It has come to my attention that the pre-teen transition the company is currently undergoing isn’t working out according to plan and that my leadership has come into question. After some difficult deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that it is time for me to step down from my position and pursue another path.
My 12 years with The Graham Family have been nothing short of amazing. It has been my honor to nurture the assertive personality that would eventually turn against me. I thank my pre-teen for all of the challenges that have made me grow in character and in stress-weight, all of the who-will-have-the-last-word debates that pushed my patience and tolerance to levels I didn’t know possible, and for the phone calls home from teachers in the middle of important meetings.
When I took this position over a decade ago, I thought that the infant and toddler years were unmatched in sleep deprivation and the art of picking my battles, but little did I know, it was only the beginning. Without the help of this pre-teen, I wouldn’t be the haggard basket case that I am today.
If I can be of any assistance during this transition to facilitate the seamless passing of my stress and anxiety to my successor, please let me know. I would be glad to help in whatever way I can.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to lead this family for the last 12 years, and I have no doubt that it will continue to thrive under whoever is brave enough to step into this leadership role.
Sincerely,
Nicole Slaughter Graham
