My Lord Maester, I have taken charge of the King’s Landing office, as you commanded. As the post was so long unfilled, many reports of at-risk children went uninvestigated. Below you will find my progress on the most egregious open cases.
Case 1
Family: Targaryen
Parents: Aerys, Rhaella
Children: 3
Ages: Child 1, boy, five and twenty years (of age); Child 2, boy, seven years; Child 3, unborn (update: girl).
Causes for concern:
Father shows signs of mental illness — depression, paranoia, violent outbursts. Documented history of incest. Danger from outside forces.
Recommended action:
Temporary to permanent removal pending further investigation.
Update:
Child 1 deceased, killed in battle (see case 2). Child 2 deceased, murder or lawful execution (accounts vary). Child 3 sold in marriage to a foreigner, widowed.
Conclusion:
Parents dead. Children either dead or adult by marriage. Referred Child 3 to therapist. No further action needed.
Case 2
Family: Targaryen
Parents: Rhaegar, Elia
Children: 2
Ages: Child 1, girl, two years; Child 2, boy, eight months.
Causes for concern:
Father recently abandoned family. Documented history of incest. Documented history of mental illness.
Recommended action:
Family counseling. Reconciliation if possible. Regular home visits for a period of five years.
Update:
Child 1 deceased, murder. Child 2 deceased, murder (needs confirmation).
Conclusion:
Parents dead. Children dead. Murderers convicted or dead. No further action needed.
Case 3
Family: Lannister
Parents: Tywin, Joanna (deceased).
Children: 3
Ages: Child 1, girl, seven years; Child 2, boy, seven years; Child 3, boy, three months (severe physical disabilities).
Causes for concern:
Family in disarray due to death of mother in childbirth. Father emotionally neglectful of disabled infant. Children 1 and 2 showing signs of unhealthy codependence. Child 1 possibly abusing Child 3.
Recommended action:
Immediate removal to separate foster families. Extensive counseling and monitoring. Look into PT resources for Child 3.

Case 4
Family: Arryn
Parents: Jon, Lysa
Children: 1
Age: boy, six years.
Causes for concern:
Mother shows signs of mental illness — paranoia, violent outbursts, delusions. Father elderly. Child shows signs of failure to thrive. Seizures, spasms, and bleeding observed. Possible induced invalidism.
Recommended action:
Medical care to be exclusively delegated to house maester on threat of removal. Family counseling. Investigation into abuse.
Update:
Parents deceased. Child in custody of stepfather.
Conclusion:
Situation to be monitored. Look into allegation of additional minor child in caregiver role.
Case 5
Family: Stark
Parents: Eddard (deceased), Catelyn, Additional
Children: 6
Ages: Child 1, boy, fourteen years (of age); Child 2, girl, eleven years; Child 3, girl nine years; Child 4, boy, seven years (paraplegic); Child 5, boy, three years; Child 6, boy, fourteen years (of age) (bastard).
Causes for concern:
Father executed for treason. Child 1 pursuing war against the crown. Child 2 in custody of the crown. Child 3 missing, presumed dead. Child 4 and 5 left without proper supervision. Child 6 on the Wall. Feral animals kept as pets.
Recommended action:
Immediate apprehension and removal to proper custody.
Update:
Parents deceased. Child 1 deceased, murder. Child 4 and 5 deceased, murder (needs confirmation). Child 6 raised to Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. Child 3 found after lengthy search, now in custody of the Warden of the North (needs confirmation). Child 2 married to a fugitive, missing, believed accessory to regicide.
Conclusion:
Further action needed. Look into whereabouts of 2 unrelated minor children and cognitively challenged giant last seen with Child 4. Find placements if necessary.
Case 6
Family: Baratheon
Parents: Robert, Cersei, Additional
Children: 4 acknowledged.
Ages: Child 1, boy, thirteen years; Child 2, girl eight years; Child 3, boy, seven years; Child 4, boy, ten years (bastard); possible others (bastards).
Causes for concern:
Father alcoholic and adulterous. Mother allegedly adulterous (rumored incest). Child 1 showing signs of mental illness (psycho-sexual fixations, sadistic tendencies, incapable of empathy). Children 2 and 3 likely suffering abuse at the hands of Child 1.
Recommended action:
To be determined.
Update:
Father deceased, hunting accident (needs confirmation). Child 1 deceased, murder. Child 2 fostered overseas, critically injured. Child 3 is a monarch, married to brother’s widow.
Conclusion:
Situation to be monitored.
Case 7
Family: Craster
Parents: Craster (it’s complicated)
Children: Numerous
Ages: Unknown
Causes for concern:
Documented incest. Underage marriage. Admitted bigamy. Slavery. Severe psychological, physical, and sexual abuse. Ritual infant sacrifice.
Recommended action:
Let the Others take them.
