Producer: Me, Dale Allen.
Producer/Director: Me again, Dale Allen
Agency: Dale Allen Agency
Casting Director: D. Allen
NYC Auditions: Text me when you’re free – 917.555.2555. I’m probably free! Details below.
Shoot: ASAP – 2015 [Or longer, as yet undetermined.]
DESCRIPTION: FRIEND will be funny, smart, good-looking but not too good-looking, free on weekends for hanging out and sometimes Wednesdays after work.
Must like: Thai food, Dr. Who, brunch.
Must read: Tumblr, so he can tell me about up-to-date internet memes and we can laugh at them.
FILMING: All filming will be done clandestinely so you will never actually see the camera. We will just hang out like friends and do things like go to the movies or watch How I Met Your Mother—but we’ll never tell people we actually watch that show and it will be a funny secret we have. Don’t worry, though; the web series is real, I promise. Maybe think of it more like guerrilla theater. Just keep in mind that the footage may be deleted if it isn’t perfect, so that’s why you may never see it, OK?
PLEASE PREPARE (MEMORIZE) THE FOLLOWING SIDE FOR THE AUDITION:
SCENE 1
DALE: Hey dude, what’s up?
FRIEND: Not much, have you read that really good article in the [A GOOD MAGAZINE/LITERARY JOURNAL/NEWSPAPER] about [SOMETHING INTERESTING—PLEASE CHOOSE SOMETHING GOOD AND TOPICAL]?
DALE: No, I’ll check it out. Thanks!
FRIEND: No problem. I’m your friend.
[HERE WE WILL IMPROVISE AN INSIDE JOKE.]
[HERE WE WILL WATCH A MOVIE ON NETFLIX.]
End of scene.
CALLBACKS: Will be held at a bar on the corner of Mott and Waverly. Another character named Elizabeth will be there too. She is beautiful. You will say the above monologue and then head home. And then please text me and let me know if you like her or if you think she’d be good for me. And then I will come over after and we will watch Breaking Bad and eat one pizza.
CONTACT: Please either call me at the number listed above or drop off a headshot and résumé at the Dance Dance Revolution console furthest to the right in the arcade on Mott St. I am there weekdays between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. with a lunch break from 1:30-2. Please wait to get my attention between dance sessions.
SHOOT: During shooting, please send me approximately 1-2 texts per day saying things friends say (e.g. “hahaha,” “ur my friend,” “ok”). This can start before the audition and continue even if you don’t get the role.
GOOD LUCK.
