Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trailblazing pioneer. Tireless fighter for women’s rights. Feminist icon.
As Republicans, we can think of no better way to pay tribute to this amazing human who fought for women’s rights than to show the country what a rotten bunch of male misogynists are running the country right now.
Leading the eulogy, we have Lindsay Graham, who’s on record saying, “I want you to use my words against me. If there’s a Republican president in 2016 and a vacancy occurs in the last year of the first term, you can say Lindsey Graham said, ‘let’s let the next president, whoever it might be, make that nomination’ … Hold the tape.” A man of integrity would keep his promise, but how can we properly celebrate the life of such a great woman unless we demonstrate the utter moral corruption of our overwhelmingly male leadership?
Before she became its second woman justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg won five groundbreaking cases brought before the Supreme Court, convincing the all-male justices that gender discrimination existed and violated the constitution’s equal protection clause. So it’s fitting that Ted Cruz would choose to celebrate this praiseworthy woman’s life by showing the world that his word is utterly worthless. In 2016, following Justice Scalia’s death, Senator Cruz said, “It has been 80 years since a Supreme Court vacancy was nominated and confirmed in an election year. There is a long tradition that you don’t do this in an election year.” And yet, with less than fifty days until the election, Cruz was one of the first Senators to urge Donald Trump to fill the seat.
But to really lionize Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had to explain gender discrimination to the all-male Supreme Court justices as if they were kindergarten children, it’s not enough to demonstrate that the conservative male leaders of our country are lying hypocrites. Georgia Congressman and fake Christian Doug Collins takes his commemorative gesture one step further, pretending to care about unborn babies and human life while failing to protect human life in his own district and country and blindly supporting Donald Trump, whose failures to contain the virus led to the greatest loss of human life from Coronavirus in the world. (In fact, a reliable predictor of how many people will die from Coronavirus is whether they are governed by responsible leaders or by dipshit anti-science conservative males like Doug Collins).
Ruth Bader Ginsburg did her job so well that she literally changed the world for the better. So the only way for Mitch McConnell to celebrate her life is by doing the worst possible job of any majority leader in American history, refusing to pass legislation while confirming hundreds of white male judges who are hostile to women’s and LGBTQ’s rights. Joining his two-faced colleagues, McConnell said the Senate shouldn’t confirm a SCOTUS pick in an election year not once but five times before going back on his word.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s dying wish was that her replacement be nominated by the next president. What better way to venerate this cherished woman than by claiming her granddaughter is a liar? And surely there’s no better way to show your respect for this champion of justice and women’s rights than to neglect her dying wish and shit all over her legacy? Donald Trump has nominated judge after judge to overturn Roe vs. Wade and force women to give birth against their will, and now that Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died, he’s committed to prove how dishonest and craven conservative male leadership is by appointing yet another anti-choice judge to the Supreme Court. As the president said in tribute to this feminist hero, “She led an amazing life. What else can you say?… I moved on her like a bitch. But I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
We hope America remembers how these conservative male leaders paid tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
